New Orleans Aqua Aces Rodeo May 17-20


The New Orleans Aqua Aces rodeo is May 17 - 20.

I hope some of you guys can make it. We have the largest LA spearfishing tournament second to Helldivers Rodeo, and it's a lot of fun.

We will open the scales at special times for anyone fishing BOTH Aqua Aces Rode and the Spearboard Open, which is also that weekend. Many people do both tournaments. Contact mrfish87 on Spearboard for details about getting your fish weighed early if you plan on doing both.

1. Registration is open until close of business, May 16, 2007, at the area dive shops or from AQUA ACES. Registration fee is $30, this includes Rodeo T-Shirt and drinks. Pre-registration by phone or mail (email) is allowed. All participants must be known by the AQUA ACES prior to the start of the rodeo. 2. Valid fishing license is required of all participants.
3. Diving is open to all waters.
4. Competition starts Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 12:01 a.m. and ends Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 3:00 p.m.
5. All fish subject to autopsy.
6. Scales open Sunday, May 20, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. only.
7. All decisions by Rodeo Officials will be final.
8. Headquarters for the Rodeo will be Lafreniere Park Shelter # 5..
9. No power heads allowed.
10. Fish must be speared and apprehended by Diver without assistance.
11. Fish speared from boats are not eligible.
12. Skin and scuba are allowed.
13. Diver must be present for entrance prizes, Sunday, May 20, 2007 at * 4:30 p.m.
14. Each category will receive a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place award.
15. All 1st place fish receives 3 points, 2nd 2 points, and 3rd 1 point that goes toward King/Club/Boat Award.
16. Separate boards will be kept for the purpose of tabulating points toward Champion Skindiver and Queen Award. The 3-2-1 point system will be used with ties broken by cumulative weights of fish on these boards. Only fish shot skin diving will count for Champion Skindiver and only Ladies may shoot for Queen Award.
17. Ties for King/Club/Boat will be determined by the cumulative weight taking awards.
18. In case of any ties due to weight the earliest fish (es) entered win(s).
19. In the Miscellaneous Category: No Tarpon Under 60 lbs! No Redfish, Jewfish, Manta Rays, Sharks or Ocean Sunfish.
20. There will be one Award given to Champion Skindiver and to Queen Diver. These places will count as points for King/Club/Boat Awards, 1 point for each.
21. Eligible Fishes are as follows:
Amberjack, Barracuda, Cobia, Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Red Snapper, Sheepshead, Triggerfish, and Miscellaneous (Fish Only) (See Rule 19)
Thursday, May 17th --- Competition Begins 12:01a.m.
Friday, May 18th --- Competition Continues
Saturday, May 19th --- Competition Continues
Sunday, May 20th --- Aqua Aces Festival Day 10:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Scales Open
Noon 5:00 p.m. Food & Drinks
3:00 p.m. Scales Close
3:30 p.m. Awards Ceremony

Scales Will Be Open 10:00 a.m. To 3:00 p.m. Only
